FAQS:

1. How do I become a model or talent with The NeVaeh Agency?

A: There are three ways to submit to become represented by The NeVaeh Agency:

  1. Attend our monthly open call.  We hold open calls every month (listed on our website and myspace page).

  2. Mail your submission to us through US Mail.  Mail two photos and a letter of introduction to us at 9330 LBJ Suite 900 Dallas Texas 75243.  Make sure you include your height, weight, measurements, and any experience you have, as well as what you are interested in doing, and how to contact you.

  3. Submit online. An online application and submission instructions can be seen at www.thenevaehagency.com

Once we review your submission, we will determine if we are interested in working with you.  If we are, you will hear from us with in six weeks.

The one thing you can NOT do is contact us directly.  We do not accept phone calls, emails, or any other personal information from model and talent hopefuls.  We will not return your call or email.

2. Does The NeVaeh Agency represent children? Will you represent my child?

A. We represent children who are at least 4 years old, are comfortable with strangers and groups of people, follow directions well, and are talented and photogenic.  If you are interested in submitting your child for representation, please submit him or her to us in one of the three approved ways.

3. I am interested in being a model or an actress/singer/etc.  What steps should I take?

A: First of all, learn everything you can about the industry.  Make sure it's right for you.  Look at the requirements of models and talent in this industry, and make sure you qualify.   Be honest - if you ignore the facts and go in blindly, you can be taken advantage of (example - a 5'8" male is NOT going to be a fashion model.  Don't get scammed into classes to teach you!)  Once you are confident in your chances, seek out an agency.

Make sure the agency you choose is LICENSED AND BONDED!  There are a lot of "promotional groups", "Model management" groups, "Advertising agencies", etc out there who try to get around licensing laws.  If they BOOK TALENT and RECIEVE MONEY FOR BOOKING MODELS OR TALENT then THEY ARE AN AGENCY and need a license.  Check them out through your state website.  In Texas, the address is http://www.license.state.tx.us/LicenseSearch/ .  No matter who you choose to sign with, make sure they are legal first!  Don't get scammed.

4. What does an agency do?

A Talent Agency manages talent, keeps track of their schedules, books them with clients, and handles their legal contracts and payments.  Technically, these are things a talent can do for themselves - so why have an agent?   Booking talent requires long hours,  dedication, and the willingness to spend your entire day in front of your  computer, making phone calls, sending faxes, and minding calendars.  It is a full time job, allowing little or no room for other activities - while  this can be done by most models or actors, most find that it is well worth the small cost to have an agency do it for them.  Also, many actors soon discover than some clients do not work with talent that is not agency represented. Once you are booked for a job, the agency will negotiate your contract, ensure that you get paid, and handle legal issues for you, allowing you to concentrate fully on the job ahead of you.   Additionally, as a legal, legit agency charges no upfront fee, and only receives payment when the talent is paid, you will find that an agency is an economical and practical addition to your career.

5. What is required of me if I sign for an agency?

A. You will be required to purchase headshots or comp cards from the photographer and printer of your choice, make sure the agency has your schedule, and continue building your resume with test shoots or community theater, etc.  You will be required to maintain your current looks, informing the agency of any desires to change your appearance and getting it approved.  You will be required to attend auditions you are booked for, and show up on all jobs at least 15 minutes early and fully prepared.  There will be other requirements as well - your agency will tell you what they are.

6. What happens at an open call?

  • You arrive at the agency and fill out an application turn it in, or, if you already have it filled out and with you when you arrive, you just turn it in.

  •  We will call you in one at a time for a quick interview.

  •  If you do not have photos to provide us with, we will not be able to see you.

  •  Sometimes, particularly if you are there as talent (acting) you must have an audition piece prepared (monologue for actors, song for singers, dance number for dancers) as part of the audition process. This could take place during the interview, after the interview, or after the next step.

  • The judging panel will meet and discuss your interview.

  •  The panel will decide who they are interested in working in, and who does not meet the criteria at the present time. Models will be informed of the decision with-in two weeks.

  •  Those who the agency does not choose to work with at the present time will be put in a file and kept on hand for future reference. Those the agency is considering signing will be scheduled for a one on one interview with the CEO. After the interview, models the agency will be working with will be asked to sign a contract.

If you're coming to the Open Call:

If you're coming to the Open Call ("Talent search") please keep these things in mind:

1.There will be a lot of competition, and they will look good.

    2. It takes more than looking good to be successful in this industry - it takes: personality, professionalism, energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude - or as the agency likes to say, confidence, charisma, and composure.

    Some tips:
    1. Hit the gym NOW, today. Don't worry about losing weight, but you need to be toned up. If you don't go to the gym, run, do sit ups, do something! Tone up, look good, it will help give you energy, it will make your eyes shine, and it will flatten that stomach.

2.Start whitening your teeth with a home system now. Crest night effects say that they take 14 days, but I saw a result after three. Every detail counts.

    3. Do you need a trim or a manicure?  Go get one now

    4. ABSOLUTELY NO PARTYING THE TWO NIGHTS BEFORE THE OPEN CALL. Alcohol makes you look bloated and fat, and that can take a few days to wear off. Drugs give you red eyes, and destroy your image.

    5. Eat small before the call.

    6. Take care of your skin this week - moisturize, drink A LOT of water, get a lot of rest.

    7. Work on facial expressions. They might not want to see what you can do. Or they might. BE PREPARED. PRACTICE IN THE MIRROR, it works.

    8. Girls: Models: Wear little to NO make-up & form fitting clothing. We want to see the real you. Be Comfortable. Wear Heels!! You will be asked to walk for us.

    9. Guys: Talent/Models: Dress comfortably, no make-up (please) =)
No huge baggy clothes, we know we can put a potato sack on you and you'll look great, but you need to be presentable. We prefer
fitted clothing (jeans and a tank top are fine). Models over 16 should wear a swimsuit under their clothes, as we may ask to see you in swimwear to better see the shape of a models' body

    10. Girls: Talent: Dress comfortably, little to no make-up.
We ask that you wear heels, light, natural make up or no makeup, and fitted clothing (jeans and a tank top are fine). Models over 16 should wear a swimsuit under their clothes, as we may ask to see you in swimwear to better see the shape of a models' body.

7. What do you look for in new models or talent?

A. I am often asked what an agency looks for in new talent.  I cannot speak  for every agent out there, or for every field or market, so I will try to  be general rather than specific, in the hopes that this will be true of the agencies you audition for.

Naturally, we want to see that "Look" - either the character actor that
every show needs, or that soap opera or Disney or Hollywood look.  We want  the look that our clients ask for and that is most marketable. But, since  that changes regularly (this week blonde hair and blue eyes might the  rage, whereas next week Asian or Latino might be most requested) that's  not the most important thing.

We want TALENT.  The actors that audition for us don't need to have taken  classes (though that shows dedication) - they need raw talent.  I want  someone who can make me believe a role. There are enough actors and models in the world that look good but act like animated Barbie  dolls.  No thanks!  Please give me something that will leave me gasping for air at the end.  I want to believe you can be a kind teacher, a drill sergeant, a missionary, or a prostitute, all with equal credibility.  MOSTLY, we want dedication and drive.  We can see that when someone comes  in and shows us a list of plays they've done, of indie projects, etc.  We  want people who have grace and self-respect (no webcam girls please!) but  who are willing to work and to crawl miles on their knees to prove they  can walk on to a set.  I want people who will keep working after they are  signed and prove they are worth a director's effort.  Being signed to an  agency doesn't mean the end of your effort - it means you've been rewarded  for the effort you've shown, and are now expected to exceed your previous  effort.

I want people who are willing to get the headshots they need, to update
their resumes, to go to auditions 6 towns away, to drive 6 hours for a 5  minute meeting/audition.  THAT's what I want!

I want someone who lives, breathes, and eats this industry, who practices  monologues in her head while waiting tables, who thinks of ways to build  his resume while taking his morning jog.  I want someone who turns down  beers with the boys so they can make a 6 am audition, or who skips out on  a day at the beach with her friends so she won't be burnt when she goes
> into make up the next day.
>
> I want someone who makes the directors want them.
